A Club Worth Shvetzing Over - Written by Kevin “What’s his name?” Pivovarov posted on 07 Sep 2009
Yarmulke? Seder? Shabbat? SHALOM?! These words might be very familiar to some of you who read this, and they might even be used frequently in your regular dialogue. For others, you might as well be speaking Cantonese to a lemon because they will not have the slightest clue as to what you are babbling about. But for all of you who have lost touch with your inner-jew, there is still some light to be brought to the misinformed and unaware.

This year’s Jewish Student Union was created to inform and educate the LP student body about the Jewish culture. Here, students can speak freely as to what is on their minds and partake in many philosophical discussions on current events, history or current student social issues. In fact, there are often guest speakers who enlighten the youth of important moral and life lessons, no matter what religion you are from. So, do not let the name of the club fool you, for you do not have to be Jewish to join. Anyone can come to any meeting.

As captivating as all this sounds, there are still a few more reasons to join and participate in this exciting experience. Last year, for example, members of the JSU were given discount tickets to the Matisyahu concert. Tres cool, right? Even cooler were the mp3 players and other great prizes given out at almost every meeting! But the best bribe we can offer you is free, delicious, mouth-watering pizza that is also delicious (have I convinced you?). No obligation folks! So listen to the announcements for meeting dates (meetings are at lunch) and come and join us for some good times and free pizza. We hope to see you there!
