Asian Club’s Tai Chi Demonstration

Created thousands of years ago, Tai Chi originated in China as a form of martial art. The direct translation from Chinese to English is “Supreme Ultimate Fist.” Tai Chi is associated with health and mental peace along with physical fitness. In February the Asian Club will be hosting a Tai Chi demonstration in the gym so the students of Lawrence Park can receive a chance to experience and learn about this ancient art. All are welcome.

The Tai Chi demonstration will be hosted by the Asian Club and performed by professional Taoists. The entire demonstration will start ten minutes after the beginning of lunch and last around forty minutes in total. During this time the students of Lawrence Park will hear a brief history of Tai Chi, learn and practice the first few movements of Tai Chi routines and discover the power behind this form of martial art. There will also be pamphlets with additional information if any students wish to go further into this experience. Students can use this chance to learn how to relax the mind and focus in school.

“Tai Chi Chuan, the great ultimate, strengthens the weak, raises the sick, invigorates the debilitated, and encourages the timid” Cheng Man Ching (1947)

Come to the demonstration during lunch and experience for yourself an ultimate power, a trainer of the mind and body, and a martial art form that has passed down through thousands of years.
