BOOK REPORT

Written component

 

Plot Summary (10 marks)

Summarize the plot chapter by chapter.  You should use only one or two sentences per chapter.  Focus on what happens in the novel, not on why it happens.

 

Medical research (20 marks)

Choose a forensic/medical/scientific event /situation/disease in your novel that could be researched. 

You must use at least three sources and must properly document as directed by your teacher. 

You must include at least one page of point form notes from each source.

 

Reflective…(20 marks)

Compare the medical information you learned from your research with the medical/scientific issue in your novel.

Was the information given by the novelist accurate? Making reference to your research, give at least 2 specific examples to back up your response.

Oral component

 

Book Report (20 marks)        

Your book report will have three basic components; the focus of this assignment will be the second and third parts. 

Part 1

Give an accurate notation of the following: (5 marks)

                    Title of the book

                    Author’s name

                    Date of publication

                    Fiction or non fiction

                    Where the story takes place

Part 2

Briefly describe the plot of your story.  (10 marks)

Part 3

Your assessment of the book (5 marks)

                    Would you recommend it to others? Why/ why not?

                    What did you learn from this book?  Give specific examples

Bibliography - 10 marks

 

Your oral report should be no less than 10 minutes and no more than 15 minutes long.  If your report is too short or too long you will lose 1 mark/minute

 

Presentations will be in alphabetical order by last name.  They will start on:
